The Weekly Word

Today

"But encourage one another daily,
as long it is called Today…
"

Hebrews 13:3

TodayHave you ever heard someone say, “It’s just another day?” Perhaps you’ve said it yourself. How erroneous! It is never just another day, but it is TODAY. Today is a gift from God – a time for present day living. Today is not the past and it is not the future. Today is the present moment. Today is Now!

Present day living is to give thanks for each new day and desire to make the most of it. Making the most of a day is not about production, but love – a love that fully responds to God. We can choose to set our hearts and minds on the Lord and His cross and give ourselves completely to Him with affection and devotion. Brother Lawrence once said, “Count as lost each day you have not used in loving God.” With that in mind, let’s ask, “Am I making the most of today?”

As we continue our journey to the cross this summer, let’s remember to fully respond to our Lord daily, until there are no more days, loving Him every breath until death.

DAILY choose Jesus ways over your own,
DAILY cast your cares on Jesus,
DAILY trust Jesus to provide.

It’s not just another day. It’s TODAY!

Thankful for every day in Him and with you,

Pastor Chris

The Orchard is considering providing a whole family opportunity to build community and grow deeper with God beginning in the fall. We often hear from you of the need for the opportunity to grow closer. We agree!

We want your input as we consider a Wednesday night small group/fellowship time with age appropriate activities for the whole family. The Cruciform Life

Cruciform LifeWe have just begun our summer at the cross with "The Cruciform Life" series. Both the worship experiences and Acts 2:42 will include times of preaching, teaching, interaction and spiritual conversation, testimony and praying about the meaning of the cross in our lives. We will revisit our values which are cross derived and seek practical ways to live these out within our church family and within our daily lives as a community. The Holy Spirit is stirring my soul and assuring me that He has great plans for The Orchard as we surrender to Him more fully.

Keys

At the present time we have about 20 keys to the Orchard Ministry Center out. We are in the process of providing opportunities for various groups in the community to use our building and we need to try to consolidate the number of building keys that we have. Some people have been given a key for a special event or project that you no longer need - would you return your key to Pastor Anita so that accurate records can be kept and the number of issued keys can be reduced? If you are still in a ministry area that makes it necessary for you to have a key, please feel free to keep your key but would you notify Pastor Anita that you have a key? This effort will keep us from having the expense of changing the locks on the building. Thank you in advance for your help in this matter.
