Stay completely up-to-date by regularly visiting The Orchard's Calendar of Events at: www.theorchardfranklin.com

Please be advised that we will NOT have our First Sunday Potluck on December 6, in order to celebrate Christmas Dinner at The Orchard on December 20. Ham will be provided, but you may bring another meat of your choice if you wish to do so. Also, plan to bring your favorite Christmas side dishes and desserts. Make plans to celebrate Christmas with your church family with good food and fellowship after our Sunday worship service on December 20. It will not be complete without YOU!

Mark your calendars: The Manger (Graceworks Christmas ministry to Williamson Co residents) will again be stationed here at The Orchard Ministry Center. They have asked our entire church family to serve on December 10. Your Christmas will not be the same after you have served in this manner. Don't miss it.

Our children's ministry has begun to collect "Change for a Change" to buy mosquito nets to help prevent malaria in Africa. Each net costs $10 with a total collection from the last two weeks of $179.20. Each Sunday from now until the end of the year our children will be at the doors each Sunday as you leave to collect your "pocket change" to help "change" the life of a child in Africa. Thank you for helping our children make a change.

There will be two Q&A Meetings coming up for those who have further interest or questions regarding the 2010 budget and the direction of the church. Please mark your calendar and plan to attend on Sunday, November 29 immediately following the worship service or Wednesday, December 2 at 6:00 p.m.

2010 Budget & Goals - click here. These will also be available at church the next two Sundays - please see Anita.

It is time for us to begin sign-up for 2010 cleaning of the church. If you or your family would be willing to clean the church for one month during the new year, please contact Pastor Anita or sign-up on Sunday.

My Reflection

"As in water face reflects face,
so a man's heart reveals the man."
~ Proverbs 27:19 ~

Paul Harvey reported that a woman called the Butterball Turkey Co. telephone hotline to have them answer a consumer question about a turkey. The woman's turkey had been in the freezer for 23 years and she wondered if it was OK. The representative said it would probably be OK if it had been kept below zero the entire time, but even if the turkey was safe to eat the flavor had probably deteriorated to the point that she would not recommend eating it. The caller replied, “That’s what I thought. I’ll give the turkey to our church.”

As I heard this story the old hymn "Give of Your Best to the Master" came to my mind. The second verse says:

Give of your best to the Master;
Give Him first place in your heart;
Give Him first place in your service;
Consecrate every part.
Give, and to you will be given;
God His beloved Son gave;
Gratefully seeking to serve Him,
Give Him the best that you have.

Through my many years of ministry the church has often received Aunt Sadie's piano that couldn't be tuned by a master tuner. Uncle Herbert's furniture that had
long ago been worn out. As I have questioned those "gifts" to the church I now have to evaluate how many 23 year old turkeys I have "gifted" the church with in my own giving and serving.

Lord, forgive me when I have not given my best to the Master. Help my reflection reveal a heart that would bring You honor and glory.

Desiring to faithfully give and faithfully serve,

Anita
