Men's Fraternity will meet Saturday, November 21 from 7 - 9 a.m. at the Orchard Ministry Center.

We have volunteers to oversee the Christmas Parade float but no 2 more lessons. Don't miss the remainder even if you haven't been involved in the previous ones. Those of you who have participated from the beginning remember that there is a prize involved for you if you haven't missed more than 1 week.

Mark your calendars: The Manger (Graceworks Christmas ministry to Williamson Co residents) will again be stationed here at The Orchard Ministry Center. They have asked our entire church family to serve on December 10. Your Christmas will not be the same after you have served in this manner. Don't miss it.

Many of you worked in the Prayer Room for the Manger last year and may desire to do that again. If you would like to serve in that way on any day between Dec. 10 - 12 or Dec. 14-17 from 5 - 8 please contact Carol Dublin at cdublin@graceworksministries.net. She can assist you in signing up for a day and a shift that works with your schedule.

Our children's ministry has begun to collect "Change for a Change" to buy mosquito nets to help prevent malaria in Africa. Each net costs $10 with a total collection from the last two weeks of $118.15. Each Sunday from now until the end of the year our children will be at the doors each Sunday as you leave to collect your "pocket change" to help "change" the life of a child in Africa. Thank you for helping our children make a change.

There will be two Q/A Meetings coming up for those who have further interest or questions regarding the 2010 budget and the direction of the church. Please mark your calendar and plan to attend on Sunday, November 29 immediately following the worship service or Wednesday, December 2 at 6:00 p.m.

It is time for us to begin sign-up for 2010 cleaning of the church. If you or your family would be willing to clean the church for one month during the new year, please contact Pastor Anita or sign-up on Sunday.

The Ladies Prayer Group meets Wednesday at 9:15 a.m and the Men's Prayer Group meets Thursday at 6:30 a.m. at The Orchard Ministry Center.

REAL LIFE

“I came that they may have
life and have it abundantly”
~ John 10:10 ~

Our theme for 2009 is SIMPLE DEVOTION which calls us to eliminate many things from our lives, even some good things, in order to put the Lord first. It’s not God’s plan for believers to live panting and panicking lives.

Thomas Kelly, that great Quaker, writes, “Even the necessary obligations which we feel we must meet grow overnight, like Jack’s beanstalk, and before we know it we are bowed down with burdens, strained, breathless, and hurried, panting through a never-ending program of appointments.” I confess that my soul isn’t always healthy enough to keep up with the speed of my life. Shouldn’t the health of our soul help to determine the speed of our lives?

Pete Briscoe writes in Secrets from the Treadmill, “We must discipline ourselves to turn down the volume of our lives, slow down the pace of our lives, and remove some stuff in our lives that pads our walls but keeps us from hearing the solutions.”

Jesus said that He came that we might have a full life, not a filled life. There is a huge difference. I notice that my capacity to love well is the first thing that goes when I have a packed life. What goes for you – perspective, thankfulness, kindness, joy, faith, friendship, or vision? I also notice that being too busy makes me blind to God at work. It is only when we stop our work that we see God’s.

Lord, have mercy and help us stop long enough to see and feel again!

Slowing and Growing for Real Life,

Pastor Chris
