Everyone knows how tasty hot dogs are roasted over a bonfire - and S'mores for dessert!! Troy and Donna VanLiere are again hosting the Annual Orchard Fall Fest Bonfire on October 31st at their home, and we encourage you to invite friends and neighbors to this fun event! We'll meet at 4:00pm and ask each family to bring one package of hotdogs and hotdog buns and a side dish of your choice. The church will provide relishes, chili, paper products, hot chocolate, cider and s'mores fixins. Also, bring sticks to roast the hot dogs if you have them (we'll have a few on hand) and blankets or chairs. Looking forward to a fun afternoon of great food and fellowship!

We are nearing our half way point through the Book of Ephesians. It is a tremendous study. I want to remind you that if you miss we have these sessions recorded. Simply request one. Also, remember that there is a special gift for those who miss no more than one time. We started the race strong; let's finish strong these next six weeks.

The Ladies Prayer Group meets Wednesday at 9:15 a.m and the Men's Prayer Group meets Thursday at 6:30 a.m. at The Orchard Ministry Center.

Cynic or Saint?

“Ungodly men are grumblers and faultfinders…”
~ Jude 1:16 ~

“But you, dear friends, build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit. Keep yourselves in God’s love”
~ Jude 1:20 ~

There’s a gigantic gap between a saint and a cynic. One is holy while the other just finds holes. We’ve all known those who spend most of their time finding holes rather than making whole, picking things apart rather than putting things together. Sometimes that’s us! Cynics grumble and fault find and usually fall into the very pit they dig for others.

Joseph Fort Newton once answered the question, “When is a man educated?” by saying, “when he can look into a wayside puddle and see something besides mud, and into the face of the most forlorn mortal and see something divine…and has in his heart a bit of a song.”

Oh that God would educate us to be saints and not cynics. Saints are those educated by the Spirit. The Spirit trains us how to keep ourselves in the faith and love of God and helps us see good things hidden from others. The Spirit helps us keep our song strong!

Let’s live like saints and not cynics,

Pastor Chris
