Don't forget our church-wide potluck this Sunday, September 13 in honor of The Orchard Church's 4th Birthday. Please bring your favorite food to share and enjoy a great time of fellowship.

This Sunday, David Knight and Jason Glasgow will begin leading a 13 week study of Ephesians during our Acts 2:42 time. The title of the study is "The Orchard: a Spiritual Family." If Acts 2:42 is not a part of your regular Sunday activities now would be a great time to get started. Children and youth have Christian Education opportunities as well during Acts 2:42 and a nursery is provided. See you at 9:15 each Sunday.

The second Men's Fraternity series, "Winning a Work and Home" will launch on Saturday, September 19th at 7:00 AM.

We will be meeeting on the 1st and 3rd Saturday morning of each month (with a few exceptions - for example, Oct. 3rd due the the Women's Conference). See Chris Suitter for more details.

Women's Fellowship - September 21 at 6:30 p.m. at the Orchard Ministry Center. Darla Spears will be the host and you should see her on Sunday to sign up for the item you would like to bring for a delicious Pasta Bar. Make time to enjoy this great time of fellowship, food and inspiration.

Change of Date: The Women's Bible Study, One in a Million, will not begin on Sept. 23 as originally announced due to the extra work needed toward the Women's Conference but will begin on October 7 and run through November 18. We will meet at the Orchard Ministry Center each Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. Don't forget to purchase your workbook at Lifeway prior to the first lesson.

Women's Fitness Class: You are invited to receive personal fitness coaching from Jason Daniel every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday right here at the Orchard Ministry Center. Jason caters to each person's fitness level and needs. It is also a great opportunity to exercise with other ladies and keep the temple of God fit! Try for two weeks at no charge. Bring a friend to join you. If you have any questions please check with Darla Spears.

The church has need of a changing table and a rocking chair for the nursery. If you have either of these items in good condition and would be willing to donate them, please contact Darla Spears or Anita Pringle.

The Ladies Prayer Group meets Wednesday at 9:15 a.m and the Men's Prayer Group meets Thursday at 6:30 a.m. at The Orchard Ministry Center.

Bits of Yesterday

“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness”
~ (Lamentations 3:22-23 ~

One afternoon driving on a country road I spotted a little antique store named “Bits of Yesterday.” Big and little objects marked by time, wear, and weather lay all over the store lawn. I began to ponder how all of our lives are made up of both bits of yesterday and dreams for tomorrow. We have both memory and imagination.

Strewn all over our minds are past memories – some full of pain and some full of gain. All of us either need healing of the memories or we can be healed by our memories. Chapter 3 of Lamentations is written by a man who has endured suffering but whose memories have led him to the conclusion that God is faithful. His mercies endure forever. He is always willing to begin anew with those who turn to Him.

God has certainly been with The Orchard Church. Celebrating four years of life together, we praise God for His faithfulness. He has brought us together from different backgrounds and experience to worship Him and learn from one another. We haven’t done everything right or well, but He is still with us. Today we share in bits of yesterday – stories of how God has been faithful to us in the past.

We also imagine what’s ahead. We have God sized dreams. Paul reminds us that God “is able to do far more abundantly than all we ask or think” (Ephesians 3:20). It has been said that “when our memories exceed our dreams, we are on our way out.” I prefer to believe that we are on our way into “far more.” Let’s live what we have been singing about the past few months, “I Believe There is More.”

As we continue our journey together, no matter what road we find ourselves on, let’s hold in our hearts “bits of yesterday” while imagining “far more.”

Happy 4th Birthday,

Pastor Chris
