SLOW US DOWN“Be still, and know that I am God” Have you ever sprinted through the bedtime ritual? I have been guilty of hurrying the boys into bed so I can scurry off to complete one or more projects before I lay my body down! Mother Teresa once said, “Everybody today seems to be in such a terrible rush, anxious for greater developments so that children have very little time with their parents and parents have very little time for each other – at home begins the disruption of the peace of the world.” I read recently that there is now something called “The One-Minute Bedtime Story.” Authors have condensed the classic fairy tales into sixty-second sound bites to help parents deal with time consuming tots. This makes me want to weep. I ask, “What is happening to us that we would not have time to read a longer story without being able to resist the itch to hurry on?” Relationships can’t be built in sixty seconds; nurturing care is rarely quick or convenient. One must know how to do two things when learning how to drive – how to go and how to stop. The same is true in life. Most of us have the go part down, but not the stop part. Our families will break apart if we don’t learn how to brake! Please pray with me: “Lord, forgive us when people, especially our children, become a project or a number on our list of things to do. Give us the grace and power to resist the shallowness of busyness and the emptiness and selfishness of placing projects before people. May the joy of loving relationships overcome every itch to hurry.” For Godly Peace and Pace,
P.S. Let’s practice slowing down and experience the joys of taking time for our Lord and one another. Weekly Financial ReportWeekly Need $4,829
