As a church family we are now reading the Book of Acts. We are asking that you ready 10 chapters this week, 10 chapters the week of May 17 and 8 chapters the week of May 24 in preparation for Pentecost Sunday on May 31. It has been a very meaningful experience for the whole church family to be reading the same things each week. Let's continue.

The men's small group for "Life's Healing Choices" will meet Wednesday May 20 from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. at the Orchard Ministry Center. Prepare for discussion of Chapter 3 in the book and workbook.

Women's Ministry (that includes ALL Orchard Women) will meet on Monday, May 18 at 6:30 p.m. at the Orchard Ministry Center. Marilyn Knight will be the hostess this month and plans for us to have a delicious salad bar for dinner followed by a program. Lettuce, grilled chicken and drinks will be provided. Please contact Marilyn to let her know what you will be bringing to add to the Salad Bar. This is a great opportunity of fellowship, enrichment and getting to know people that you may not know very well. See you there.

The Ladies Prayer Group meets each Wednesday morning at 9:15 a.m at the home of Donna VanLiere.

The Men's Prayer Group meets each Thursday morning from 6:30 - 8:00 a.m. at The Orchard Ministry Center.

We are receiving many prayer requests and that is a great thing for a church that desires to be a "house of prayer." There is a Prayer Box on the table in the back of the worship area for you to place prayers requests. The requests will then be prayed for by our weekly women's and men's prayer groups. Prayer requests for Orchard family members can still be sent out via email by contacting Pastor Anita.

Put Into Practice

Knowledge without practice is wasteful. That’s why Paul says to the Philippians, “Whatever you have learned or received from me, or seen in me – put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you” (4:9). As a church family we are reading through various books of the Bible that may seem familiar to us – we’ve read them before or think we know them, but are God’s Words working in us unto transformation? Are our hearts and lives becoming new through the practice of His Word?

A necessity to good reading and study is being open to the truth and yielding ourselves to the illumination of the Holy Spirit. Will you slowly and receptively pray with me?

Lord Jesus, I pray my capacity to receive truth is not blocked by pride or by the ungodly thought that I already know enough truth. Save me from mere intellectual knowledge for the sake of information. Drive your truth deep into my spiritual being until I become a brand new person in Christ. I submit myself to you. Recycle the old allowing it to have new power in my life. Rivet it into my spirit until it transforms my seeing and doing. Spare me from boredom through the surprising and life giving ministry of the Holy Spirit who is my Guide and Teacher.”

This personal prayer from my heart represents my desire to see God have His way in our Church family through His Word and Spirit.

In favor of putting it into practice,

Pastor Chris
